FOURTH DAY OF SCHOOL INDUCTION
SCHOOL INDUCTION PROGRAMME DAY-4
OCTOBER 24,2024
Today was fourth day of school induction at GHSS Jawahar Ayoor. We arrived school at 9.30 AM. We signed our attendance in the attendance register and then proceed to the classroom assigned for us.
REFLECTION ON SCHOOL EXPERIENCE
At 9:45 AM all the students students and teachers assembled in the school ground for assembly, which is conducted only on Thursdays. We joined them as well. The students of class 10A led the assembly, starting with a prayer. Following that, there was a pledge, a thought of the day, newspaper reading and an interesting quiz. Afterward, HM Deepa miss spoke about the importance of discipline and cleanliness. Four students of the school were appreciated for achieving outstanding grades in Shasthramela and received medals from HM. During 4th period we conducted a shared class for class 8. At 12:45 PM, the bell rang for lunch break. As part of the Midday Meal Program, we served lunch to the students, which today included rice, beetroot thoran and boiled pumpkin curry. After lunch break we taught a class for 9th standard. The school day concluded at 4 PM and we signed the attendance register before leaving for the day.
REFLECTION ON CURRICULAR AND CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITY
At 12:10 PM, Akshaya and I conducted a shared class for 8th Standard, Division A, English medium. The class had a total strength of 13 students, with 11 present today. We focused on the third chapter of Basic Science, titled "Let's Regain Our Fields". To engage the students, Akshaya began by asking about agriculture and other casual questions to create a relaxed atmosphere. This led to a discussion on sustainable agriculture and composting from waste materials. She then moved on to topics like livestock management, poultry farming, sericulture and pisciculture. I continued the lesson by covering floriculture, apiculture, cuniculture, mushroom cultivation, horticulture and medicinal plant cultivation. The students were enthusiastic about learning the different names and varieties. I concluded the class by having them fill in a table in the textbook and assigning homework. I also asked some questions to reinforce their understanding. We utilized teaching aids such as charts, textbook, blackboard, chalk and prepared notes to enhance comprehension.
By 1:45 PM, Akshaya and I had a shared lesson in the 9th standard,division A, English medium. The total strength was 20, with 17 students present. We covered the chapter " Behind Movements". I introduced the chapter by discussing different types of movements and explained movements in different organisms like Paramecium, Euglena,Amoeba, etc and their locomotive organs. I made the students to fill in the tables and activities in the textbook. Akshaya then taught about human body movements.
We also had opportunity to assist with model exam of IT in computer lab, as well as a class test for English in 8th standard. By 4 PM, the school choir sang the national anthem , signalling the end of the day. We signed the attendance register and leave the school.
