INTERNATIONAL EPILEPSY DAY
RAISING AWARENESS ON INTERNATIONAL EPILEPSY DAY
On February 12, 2025, Sabarigiri College of Education celebrated International Epilepsy Day, a global event aimed at raising awareness about epilepsy. The program began with Arathi as the anchor, welcoming everyone and setting the tone for the day’s activities. Aparna delivered an insightful speech, explaining epilepsy as a neurological condition that affects people of all ages and backgrounds, making them prone to recurrent seizures. She highlighted the importance of awareness and support for those living with the condition.
The event included a powerful awareness play, performed by Pooja, Muhsina, Arya, Akshaya, Nuju, Ameena, and Aparna. The play depicted the dos and don’ts when witnessing an epileptic seizure. It educated the audience on how to stay calm, protect the person from injury, and ensure they are placed safely on their side once the seizure phase is over. The play also emphasized that nothing should be placed in the person’s mouth, and medical attention should be sought if the seizure lasts too long or if the person has difficulty breathing afterward. Arathi provided the background voice for the play, which added depth to the message.
The program concluded with Arya delivering the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to everyone who contributed to making the event a success. This celebration of International Epilepsy Day was not just an informative session but a call for greater empathy and support for people with epilepsy. By raising awareness, the college helped foster a more understanding and inclusive environment for all.
