STUDY TOUR

A study tour is an educational trip organized to give students real-world exposure, allowing them to connect theoretical knowledge with practical experiences. It involves visiting places of educational, historical, and cultural significance, making learning more engaging and meaningful. Our 5-day study tour from 3rd April to 8th April was a memorable journey filled with learning, exploration, and bonding.

Study tours hold great significance during B.Ed training, as they offer future teachers the chance to observe diverse teaching methods, visit educational institutions, and interact with different communities. This experience helps in understanding how education functions in varied social and cultural contexts. Such tours also promote personal development by enhancing communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. Apart from academic learning, they provide a refreshing break from regular classroom routines, encouraging students to return with renewed energy and a broader perspective. The memories and lessons gained from the trip will surely stay with us as we move forward in our teaching careers.

DAY- 1     03/04/2025

We began our much-awaited study tour on Day 1, departing from our college at 3:00 PM. A total of 42 student teachers and five faculty members boarded the Kingcox bus. By 5:15 PM, we made our first stop for refreshments. Later, we halted at Angamaly for dinner and continued our overnight journey with great excitement and enthusiasm.

DAY- 2    04/04/2025

By 8:30 AM, we reached Coorg and checked into our rooms. After freshening up and having breakfast, we began our sightseeing. Our first destination was the beautiful Harangi Dam. Built between 1971 and 1979 by the Karnataka State Government, the dam stands 47 meters tall and stretches 846 meters in length. Surrounded by serene nature and lush greenery, the location was perfect for relaxing and taking in the scenic beauty.

Next, we visited the famous Namdroling Monastery, also known as the Golden Temple. It is one of the largest Tibetan settlements in India. The temple's majestic architecture, colorful prayer wheels, and peaceful environment made it a unique and spiritual experience. We admired the tall statues of Lord Buddha, Lord Amitayus, and Lord Padmasambhava inside the temple.

After lunch, we visited the Bamboo Forest, a tourist spot maintained by the Forest Department. The area featured thick groves of bamboo, teak, and sandalwood trees. We explored the trail through the forest and saw sculptures representing Karnataka's rich cultural heritage. After some shopping at the local stalls, we returned to the hotel, had dinner by 8 PM, and rested for the night.

DAY-3  05/04/2025

We left Coorg early in the morning at 5:30 AM and began our journey to Chikkamagalur. After having breakfast at Hassan Restaurant around 8:30 AM, we started our jeep trekking adventure. Our first stop was Mullayanagiri Peak, the highest peak in Karnataka at 6,317 feet. Climbing to the top and visiting the Mullappa Swami Temple was both peaceful and memorable.

Next, we visited Honnammana Halla Waterfalls hidden in the Shola forest. Despite the light rain, the calm atmosphere made it a pleasant stop. We also had the chance to try ziplining—some students participated while others took photos and enjoyed watching.

After lunch, we explored the sacred Baba Budan Giri Dattatreya Peetha, a holy site respected by both Hindus and Muslims. We concluded the day at Z Point, a breathtaking hilltop with panoramic views. After returning to the hotel, a lively campfire was arranged where teachers and students danced and sang together. It was a joyful end to an adventurous day.

DAY-4  06/04/2025

At 8:30 AM, we left Chikkamagalur and travelled to Belur. After breakfast on the way, we enjoyed various water activities including banana boat rides, kayaking, rafting, and speed boating. I personally enjoyed speed boating and kayaking the most. During kayaking, Nuju and I worked as a team and paddled in sync across the lake, even collecting small water lilies along the way. The experience was full of fun and excitement.

After lunch, we visited the Chennakesava Temple, a stunning example of Hoysala architecture built in 1116 AD by King Vishnuvardhana. The intricate carvings and soft soapstone structures showcased incredible craftsmanship and left us amazed. By evening, we travelled to Udupi through a zigzag and rough route that made some of our friends feel uneasy. We reached Udupi by 8:00 PM, had dinner, and stayed overnight at the hotel.

DAY - 5  07/04/2025

We checked out of the hotel at 10:00 AM and headed to Malpe Beach. After breakfast, we took a 30-minute boat ride to St. Mary’s Island. Known as the first landing point of Vasco da Gama, the island was stunning with its white sandy shores, rocky monoliths, and unique geological formations. The beach, instead of sand, was covered in broken seashells that looked like tiny white jewels. Despite the hot sun, we had a great time collecting shells and taking photos.

By 2:00 PM, we had lunch and began our journey back to college. On the way, we stopped at Kannur around 9:00 PM for dinner and continued our travel through the night.
