THIRD DAY OF SCHOOL INDUCTION
SCHOOL INDUCTION PROGRAMME DAY-3
OCTOBER 23,2024
Each day brings new experiences and connections. Today marked the third day of school induction at GHSS Jawahar Ayoor. We arrived at school at 9.25 AM, signed the attendance register and checked in with the concerned teacher about our class schedule for the day.
REFLECTION ON SCHOOL EXPERIENCE
The day started with school choir singing a prayer at 10 AM, creating a beautiful atmosphere. Afterward, we approached Honey Miss, concerned subject teacher, to discuss scheduling a class period for our shared lesson. She assured us that she would make the necessary arrangements.
At 12:45 PM, the bell rang for lunch break. As part of the Midday Meal Program, we served lunch to the students, which today included rice, thoran and boiled egg curry. The children were delighted with their meals today. After lunch break, we took class for 8th standard. The school concluded at 4 PM and we signed the attendance register before leaving for the day. Overall, it was another fulfilling day.
REFLECTION ON CURRICULAR AND CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITY
At 1:45 PM , Akshaya and I conducted a shared class for the 8th standard , Division B, Malayalam medium. The class had total strength of 17 students, with 12 present today. We focused on the third chapter of Basic Science, titled "Veendedukaam Vilanilangal". To engage the students , I started by asking about their lunch and other casual questions to create a relaxed atmosphere. This led us into a discussion about farming and the challenges farmers face, to which some students responded enthusiastically. I then introduced two topics: Polyhouse farming and Precision farming. I explained their method, advantages and current significance, emphasizing the importance adopting these techniques in today's agricultural practices. Akshaya followed up with a discussion on Hydroponics and Aeroponics, expanding on innovative farming methods. We utilized teaching aids such as black board, chalk and prepared notes to enhance understanding. After our lesson, we checked in with the students to see if they grasped the topics and we received positive feedback.
After our class, the subject teacher conducted a test for the students on a previously studied topic. Akshaya and I assisted her during the session, helping to ensure that everything ran smoothly. The period concluded by 2:45 PM.
