CHILDRENS DAY CELEBRATION - NSS PROGRAMME

Children's Day Celebration at Sabarigiri College of Education

14 NOVEMBER,2024

Today, we celebrated Children's Day on behalf of NSS at the General Hall of Sabarigiri College of Education at 11:15 AM. We made all the necessary arrangements and invited the principal, teachers, and non-teaching staff to be a part of the program.

Programs

The event began with our anchor, Silla, who started the program by inviting Suja to deliver a speech on Children's Day. Then, I (Arathi) was invited to present a PowerPoint presentation on the importance of Children's Day and share some interesting facts. Next, a Quiz Competition was held, conducted by Prathibha. The contestants included Ashwathy, Anamika, Shamnad, Anakha, Gloria, Stephy, Jerin, Devika, Ameena, and me. Jerin and Devika emerged as the winners of the quiz. An amazing dance performance by Soorya followed. The dance, which depicted the deep emotional bond between a mother and her child, was truly mind-blowing. After the performance, a fun game was conducted. Five participants from each group were seated, and childhood photos of the students in the audience were displayed on the projector. They had to guess who the person in the photo was. The game was organized by Pooja and Aravind, and I assisted in marking the scores. It was a lot of fun and brought out a lot of laughter. To wrap up the program, Shifana presented a thoughtful presentation on cartoons and children. It was both informative and thought-provoking. After the program, we visited Sabarigiri School to hand over our handmade Children's Day cards and chocolates. The children were so excited, curious, and happy to receive our small contributions. It was heartwarming to see their joy. To make the moment even more special, we shared pieces of cake as a symbol of happiness.

Today's celebration was not only fun but also intellectually enriching. It was a rollercoaster of emotions—happiness, nostalgia, and excitement. We made the day memorable for everyone involved, and most importantly, we brought smiles to the faces of many children.

MY ROLE

I presented a PowerPoint presentation about Children's Day, which included the following topics:

  • An introduction to Children's Day
  • Why November 14th was chosen to celebrate Children's Day?
  • Quotes by Jawaharlal Nehru
  • A video of Nehru, showcasing his journey from childhood to adulthood.
  • A brief biography of Jawaharlal Nehru
  • Challenges faced by children
  • The rights of a child
  • Our role as teachers and NSS volunteers

Children's Day is a reminder of our responsibility to create a future where every child has the opportunity to dream, learn, and thrive. It was my pleasure to share these thoughts with my friends.
