FIELD TRIP
FIELD TRIP
OCTOBER 10,2024
On October 10th, 2024, fifty-two teacher trainees, accompanied by our teachers and principal, embarked on an exciting field trip to several notable locations in Trivandrum. The trip, designed as part of our curriculum, offered an enriching experience beyond the confines of the classroom.
The journey began early, with our bus departing from the college at 7:00 AM. Our first stop was the historic Kilimanoor Palace, which we reached by 8:40 AM. Known as the birthplace of the legendary painter Raja Ravi Varma, the palace gave us a glimpse into his life and artistry. We admired his remarkable paintings, as well as those of his sister, and explored the temple and serene surroundings, leaving with a sense of awe for their legacy.
Next, we visited the Trivandrum Art Gallery, arriving by 10:40 AM. This gallery serves as a treasure trove of Raja Ravi Varma’s masterpieces. For an entrance fee of fifty rupees, we explored an impressive collection that deepened our appreciation for his work and contribution to Indian art.
Our third destination was the Planetarium, a hub of learning and discovery. With displays on physics and mathematics, the highlight of our visit was a 3D film about meteors, meteorites, and the Earth. The immersive experience made us feel as if we were witnessing celestial events firsthand, sparking curiosity and wonder.
At 1:30 PM, we paused for lunch at Vizhinjam, a restaurant, Thampuran famous for its seafood. The delicious fish dishes were a treat for everyone. Afterward, we explored the Vizhinjam Marine Aquarium, marveling at its collection of exotic fish, turtles, sharks, and other marine life, showcasing the beauty and diversity of aquatic ecosystems.
From there, we proceeded to the Vizhinjam International Sea Port, observing its bustling activity from a distance. Although we didn’t enter the port, the sight of ships and maritime operations was captivating and educational.
Our next stop was the Azhimala Temple, distinguished by its towering statue of Lord Mahadeva. The serene ambiance and intricate artistry of the statue left a lasting impression.
By 5:00 PM, we reached Kovalam Beach, where we spent an hour soaking in the calming sea breeze and enjoying the waves. The scenic beauty of the beach at sunset was the perfect conclusion to our itinerary.
Dinner was served at Arya's Restaurant in Kilimanoor at 8:00 PM, where we relished a hearty meal before heading back. The bus dropped students off at their respective stops, reuniting them with their families. I reached home by 9:30 PM.
This field trip was a perfect blend of education and recreation. From art and history to science and nature, it offered diverse experiences that enriched our understanding and left us with cherished memories.
