CELEBRATION OF 77TH ARMY DAY

On January 16, 2025, Sabarigiri College of Education celebrated the 77th Army Day on behalf of NSS unit with great enthusiasm and patriotism. Army Day, observed every year on January 15, honors the selfless service, valor, and dedication of the Indian Army. It marks the historic day in 1949 when Field Marshal K.M. Cariappa became the first Indian Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army.
The program began with a warm welcome by Sumaya, the anchor for the day, who set the tone for the event. Dr. Roy G., our Principal, delivered an inspiring speech on the significance of Army Day and the values we can learn from the armed forces. Prathibha Miss followed with a heartfelt speech, emphasizing the respect and gratitude we owe to army families for their sacrifices.
Aiswarya gave a speech highlighting the importance of service to the nation and the courage of our soldiers. Jerin presented an informative PowerPoint presentation, paying tribute to the real heroes of our country and showcasing the glorious history of the Indian Army. Keerthy provided an insightful biography of Field Marshal K.M. Cariappa, shedding light on his leadership and contributions to the Indian Army. The cultural segment of the event was equally inspiring. Pooja recited a poem of Vayalar - "Ashwamedham," which filled the hall with pride and emotion. Devika narrated the story of the Indian Army, tracing its evolution and pivotal role in safeguarding the nation. Alaka displayed a beautifully crafted poster on the theme of Army Day, adding a visual touch to the celebration.
Adding a personal dimension to the event, Sumaya welcomed Amritha, who shared her experiences as the wife of an army officer. Her words gave the audience a glimpse into the life of army families and the challenges they face. To engage the audience further, Aravind conducted a lively quiz on the Indian Army. The winners were from the English department, with the Natural Science department securing second place. The prizes were distributed by our Principal as a token of appreciation. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Gopika, who expressed gratitude to all the participants and organizers for making the day memorable.
The celebration was a fitting tribute to the Indian Army, inspiring everyone to respect and admire the sacrifices made by our soldiers to ensure the safety and freedom of our nation.
