AWARENESS CLASS ON WOMEN’S HEALTH AND MENSTRUAL HYGIENE
As part of International Women’s Day celebrations, Druta College Union and NSS organized an awareness class on women’s health and menstrual hygiene at Sabarigiri College of Education, Anchal, in March 2025. The session was led by Varsha C P Ma’am, Junior Health Inspector at the Community Health Centre, Anchal, and aimed to educate students on preventive healthcare, menstrual hygiene, and mental well-being. The program encouraged open discussions, helping break societal taboos and equipping students with essential knowledge about women's health.
The session started with a welcome address by Malavika, who introduced Ms. Varsha C P as the resource person. Varsha Ma’am conducted an insightful session, covering essential topics such as menstrual hygiene, mood swings, types of pain during periods, and myths surrounding menstruation. She provided practical guidance on maintaining hygiene, choosing the right menstrual products, and addressing health concerns related to the menstrual cycle. The importance of nutrition, exercise, and mental well-being in maintaining a healthy menstrual cycle was also emphasized. Her approachable style and deep knowledge made complex topics easy to understand, encouraging students to ask questions and actively participate in discussions.
A significant aspect of the session was dispelling myths and misconceptions about menstruation. The interactive nature of the discussion allowed students to clarify doubts, making it an engaging and informative experience. The session emphasized that health is both a personal and collective responsibility, and by fostering open conversations, we can create a more supportive environment for women to thrive. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Unnimaya, expressing gratitude to Varsha Ma’am for her valuable insights. As a token of appreciation, Prathibha Ma’am presented a memento to Varsha Ma’am, thanking her for her contribution.
This awareness class was highly beneficial, providing students with essential knowledge about menstrual health and hygiene practices. It helped break taboos, encouraged open discussions, and highlighted the importance of regular health check-ups. The event was a meaningful and impactful way to celebrate International Women’s Day, leaving participants better informed and more confident about managing their health. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Varsha C P Ma’am, Druta College Union, and NSS for organizing this essential session.
