WORLD WILD LIFE DAY CELEBRATION
WORLD WILDLIFE DAY
The World Wildlife Day celebration at Sabarigiri College of Education, Anchal, was held on March 5 as part of the NSS activities, although the official observance falls on March 3. Organized by the Natural Science Department, the event aimed to spread awareness about the importance of wildlife conservation and included various competitions that encouraged creativity and participation among students. The program was hosted by Nuju, with the "Thought of the Day" presented by Akshaya. The principal delivered an inspiring speech emphasizing the interconnectedness of all living beings and our responsibility to preserve the environment. Ameena also shared valuable insights on the significance of wildlife conservation and the need for immediate action to protect endangered species.
To make the celebration more engaging and thought-provoking, three competitions were conducted: a video-making competition, a slogan-making competition, and a speech competition. The video-making competition was department-wise, with participation from the English, Physical Science, and Mathematics departments. The speech competition, where participants were given the topic an hour before the event, focused on increasing human-wildlife conflicts and possible solutions. The photography competition encouraged students to capture stunning images showcasing the beauty of nature and wildlife. The enthusiasm and creativity displayed by participants reflected their commitment to nature and conservation.
Two teachers from Sabarigiri State School were invited as judges to evaluate the competitions, and winners were selected based on their creativity and impact. Reeba secured first place in the speech competition, the Mathematics Department won the video-making competition, and the Physical Science Department earned the top spot in the slogan-making competition. The principal awarded the prize to the Mathematics Department, while Archana Teacher presented the prize to Reeba, and Akila Teacher handed over the award to the Physical Science Department. As a gesture of gratitude, the principal, Dr. Roy Sir, presented a small token of appreciation to the judges for their valuable time and efforts.
The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Aparna, acknowledging the contributions of all participants, organizers, and judges. More than just a celebration, World Wildlife Day at Sabarigiri College of Education served as a call to action, reminding everyone that protecting wildlife is a shared responsibility. The passion and awareness exhibited by the students underscored the urgent need to preserve nature and maintain ecological balance. As we move forward, let us strive to create a world where humans and wildlife coexist harmoniously, ensuring that future generations can continue to witness and cherish the wonders of the natural world.
