ENVIRONMENT DAY
Environment Day Celebration at Sabarigiri College of Education
On June 5th, we, the B.Ed trainees of the Natural Science Department at Sabarigiri College of Education, proudly celebrated World Environment Day. The programme was organized by our department in association with the College Union (DRUTA) and NSS. It was an inspiring and joyful event, made even more special by the presence of 8th and 9th standard students from Sabarigiri School.
As the anchor, I had the exciting responsibility of leading the event and making sure every segment kept our audience engaged and energized. To make the programme more interactive and enjoyable for the students, we planned a variety of thoughtful and creative activities.
Reeba opened the programme with a moving poem on the importance of Earth, reminding us all of our duty to protect it. Ameena delivered a powerful speech on the disadvantages of plastic and shared practical solutions to reduce its use in daily life. Soorya captivated the audience with a beautiful dance performance, symbolizing the harmony of nature. Aiswarya added more poetic charm with another touching poem recital. The event also featured a fun and educational game called "Guess Who?", conducted by Muhsina and Aparna, which brought laughter and enthusiasm among the school students.
After the performances, we turned our words into action. As students of the Natural Science Department, we planted a small garden in front of our college under the guidance and support of our beloved Head of the Department, Sreedevi Miss. Our cherished helping hands, Sujatha aunty and Ajitha aunty, also joined us in planting saplings, making the moment even more heartfelt and memorable.
The entire day was a celebration of awareness, unity, and our collective commitment to protect and nurture our environment. It wasn't just a programme—it was a hands-on experience of environmental stewardship that brought us all closer to nature and to each other.
Also as part of the World Environment Day celebrations Sabarigiri College of Education, Anchal, in collaboration with NSS Unit No. KL-07-164 and the DRUTA College Union, organized intercollegiate competitions to promote environmental awareness.
Two major events were conducted:
- Digital Poster Making Competition
- Slogan Writing Competition
The theme was: “SAVE PLANET, DITCH PLASTIC”, focusing on reducing plastic pollution and encouraging sustainable practices. Students from various colleges actively participated by submitting entries via email and WhatsApp. E-certificates were awarded to the best entries
