TEACHING PRACTICE PHASE 1- Second week

TEACHING PRACTICE WEEK 2: Monday ( 21/07/2025) to Saturday (26/07/2025)

REFLECTION ON SCHOOL EXPERIENCE

 Day 6 -21/07/2025

We, four teacher trainees, reached the school by 9:30 am. Today was the inauguration ceremony of Karukone Pre-Primary Varnakoodaram. The school was beautifully decorated, and the stage arrangements were going on smoothly. After signing the attendance register, we met the Headmaster and proceeded to the allotted staffroom.

I had no concerned class periods today. After the morning prayer, we engaged in our daily duties. Renija Teacher and Mini Teacher gave me instructions as I was part of the Documentation Committee for the program. During the third period, we were asked to monitor a quiz competition conducted by the Library Council as part of Reading Day celebrations. Two students from Class 10 won the quiz competition and were selected for the next level. I found the questions quite interesting.

There was an assembly under the guidance of the Sports Teacher and the Headmaster for the JRC and Scout & Guide students. They provided proper instructions to the students regarding maintaining discipline and school decorum for the evening program. The lunch break started at 1:00 pm. Today's special menu was fried rice and chicken curry.

By 2:00 pm, we resumed our assigned duties. There were a total of seven B.Ed. trainees in the school, three of whom were from KUCTE Anchal. Some of us were assigned to discipline duty, while two others were in charge of capturing photos and videos. Managing the lower primary students was fun and engaging. Tea and biscuits were given to the students as refreshments. Various cultural performances were conducted — pre-primary students performed dances, higher secondary students from Classes 11 and 12 presented group songs and Nadanpattu. Students from Classes 8 and 9 performed a Zumba dance.

At 3:45 pm, Smt. J. Chinchurani, Minister for Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development, arrived for the inauguration. She was warmly welcomed by a cute dance performance by the LKG and UKG students. However, we received the sad news that former Kerala Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan had passed away. Hence, the program was shortened. There was no elaborate inauguration like the traditional lighting of the lamp. The Minister inaugurated Varnakoodaram by cutting the ribbon. She visited the building, observed the facilities, appreciated the Headmaster and teachers, and then left the school. The new block was very impressive with its attractive toys, colorful paintings, and educational equipment suitable for small childrenAfter arranging the students to return home safely, we signed the attendance register at 4:45 pm and left the school. Today was indeed a memorable and eventful day.

After lunch, there was a special assembly to celebrate Moon Day. LP section students performed an action song related to the Moon, and UP section students performed a Zumba dance. The Headmaster delivered a speech and welcomed Vaishnav from 10th standard, who dressed up as Shubhamshu Shukla for the Science Club inauguration. It was very creative as he acted like a space astronaut and delivered a speech before inaugurating the Science Club. The inauguration was marked by a science experiment – in a beaker of water, the teacher poured nail polish, and when fire was lit above, it brightened like a lamp. The Headmaster then presented science magazines and posters made by different students in front of the assembly. During the 7th period, we conducted a drawing competition on the topic “Njan Kanda Chandrayaan.” In the 8th period, I had a substitution class in 9A.
