WEEKEND REFLECTION-WEEK 2

WEEKEND REFLECTION : WEEK 2

27/07/2025

As part of our first phase of teaching practice, the Natural Science Department conducted our second weekly reflection session on Sunday, 27th July 2025. The Google Meet session began at 11:00 a.m. and concluded by 12:00 p.m. The session was held in the presence of our respected department head, Sreedevi Miss.

The session began with the teacher inviting us to share our experiences from the second week. Every trainee from each school was given a chance to share their experiences. A remarkable experience was shared by Aparna and Pooja from Karavaloor GHSS. They had the opportunity to witness a surprise inspection by the DEO (District Educational Officer). The DEO also conducted a short meeting specifically for the teacher trainees, where he shared valuable insights and suggestions, including the importance of conducting activity-oriented lessons and relating content to real-life examples.

I was the last to speak. I shared both the positive and negative experiences I had during the second week, particularly highlighting the lack of discipline among the students in one of my concerned classes. I also mentioned the innovative programs conducted in the school that actively engaged students.

Our teacher offered valuable suggestions as each of us spoke. She also asked those who had completed their general teacher observation to share the positives and negatives they noticed. Towards the end of the session, she asked us how many lesson plans we had completed so far and reminded us to prepare more before the end of the week. She specifically instructed us to complete at least 15 lesson plans or more, as we would soon need to prepare rough diagnostic test question papers based on these lessons.

Additionally, she advised us to maintain the dress code by wearing sarees, as it helps in establishing respect and boundaries between us and the students. She also reminded us about the upcoming reflection session at the college and the works to be submitted on that particular day. Overall, the session was very insightful and served as a reminder of our upcoming responsibilities.
