TEACHING PRACTICE WEEK 2: Monday ( 28/07/2025) to Friday (01/08/2025) 

REFLECTION ON SCHOOL EXPERIENCE 

28/07/2025 – Day 12

We reached school before 9:30 a.m. as we were allotted discipline duty in the high school section. After the prayer, we signed the attendance register and sat in the allotted staffroom.

I had no concerned class hour today. During the second period, I got a substitution in class 9B, but as it was a language period and many students were attending Sanskrit and Arabic classes, I could not take the lesson. At 12 p.m., we served lunch to UP and HS students. During the 5th and 6th periods, there was a photo session for students for ID cards, so Akshaya and I helped manage the students for the photographs. In the 7th period, HM asked me to conduct a Shastra Quiz, where I got the opportunity to read the questions for the students. Sneha Lakshmi and Devananda of class 10 won the 1st prize. After school dispersal, we signed the attendance register and left the school by 4:30 p.m.

29/07/2025 – Day 13

We reached school before 9:30 a.m., signed the attendance register, and sat in the allotted staffroom. I had no class during the first period. In the second period, I took a class in 9B on the topic Position of Salivary Glands and Their Role in the Digestion Process. In the 5th period, I got a substitution in 8B and taught Different Types of Marketing Techniques and Their Advantages. We also served lunch to the students. During the 6th period, I had another substitution in 9B and taught Parts Involved in Swallowing Food and Their Role, and also provided notes. After classes, we left the school after signing the attendance register.

30/07/2025 – Day 14

We reached school by 9:30 a.m. and signed the attendance register. Today marked the first anniversary of the July 30, 2024 Mundakkai–Chooralmala landslide. As per the Education Department's instruction, we observed a one-minute silence at 10 a.m. in memory of the 298 victims, including 52 students. At 12:30 p.m., we served lunch to the students. During the 5th and 6th periods, we conducted a Swadeshi Quiz with social studies-related questions. I read out the questions and gave hints for the tough ones. Abhijith of class 10 won the 1st prize. In the 7th period, I got a substitution in 9B and taught Peristalsis and Its Role in the Digestion Process in the Oesophagus, Stomach, and Small Intestine. After school dispersal, we signed the attendance register and left school.

31/07/2025 – Day 15

Akshaya and I had discipline duty today, so we reached school by 9:00 a.m. As there was an assembly, we helped line up the students. Today was Premchand Diwas, so the assembly was conducted in Hindi. Students presented poems, stories, and group songs in Hindi. The HM delivered a speech, and the Hindi teacher, Usha Rani, concluded the programme. During the 1st period, I took a class in 8B on The Role of Geographical Indications and Examples of GI Products. In the 5th period, I had period  in 9B but they were having counciling class by Ashwathy teacher. In the 7th period, I had a substitution in 8B and taught  Types of diversifying agriculture and it's significance . After classes, we signed the attendance register and left school.

01/08/2025 – Day 16

We reached school by 9:30 a.m. as usual, signed the attendance register, and sat in the allotted staffroom. In the 1st period, I had a class in 8B where I taught Different Mobile apps helping farmers for flourishing agriculture sector. I also asked 9B students to bring their completed notebooks for correction, checked them, and returned them.7th period students from UP section came and asked us to take them to PT period, so I got permission from their concerned teachers and lined them up in ground. We three teacher trainees supervised the students to play fairly and smoothly. 8th period I had class in 9B and gave notes. After the students left, we signed the attendance register and left the school.

CURRICULAR AND CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

During this week, I taught students of both 9th and 8th standards using the prepared teaching manual from their respective chapters. For 9th standard students, I handled topics from the chapter Digestive System and Transport of Nutrients, which included the position of salivary glands and their role in digestion, parts involved in swallowing food, peristalsis in the oesophagus, stomach and small intestine. For 8th standard students, I taught topics from the chapter Let’s Cultivate and Reap Goodness, such as different types of marketing techniques and their advantages, the role of geographical indications and examples of GI products,  types of diversifying agriculture and their significance, Different Mobile apps helping farmers for flourishing agriculture sector.Appropriate teaching aids like charts, slides, and videos were effectively used, and the reflective journal for the week was also completed.

EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

As part of extra-curricular activities, Shastra Quiz, Swadeshi Quiz, and Premchand Jayanti celebrations were organized, where students actively participated through poems, stories, songs, and competitions. Overall, the week was productive with effective teaching, active student engagement, and vibrant school activities.

 OVERALL REFLECTION ON CLASSROOM EXPERIENCE

I took class for my concerned classes, 8B and 9B according to teaching manual. Three teaching manual of 9th std and four teaching manual for 8th standard were completed effectively. 6 videos,12 slides,4 charts and activity cards were prepared. Students were given follow up activities like, assignments, designing model, completed table etc.
