REFLECTION ON SCHOOL EXPERIENCE
Day 28: Monday (08/09/2025)
Back to School: Teaching Practice Resumes
After a long vacation, our teaching practice resumed at school on September 8 , 2025. We teacher trainees gathered at school by 9:30 am, eager to dive back into our roles. Our first stop was a visit to our HM, Shyju Sir, to submit our attendance registers and letters from college. After signing in, we headed to our designated staff room.
As it was a Monday, I didn't have any class hours, but our Physical Education teacher, Saju Kumar Sir, approached us with some exciting tasks. With the school's Sport Meet scheduled for September 9-10, he needed our help with preparations. I was tasked with creating a list of sports items and duty lists for teachers. I also helped arrange the crowns and medals for the winners.
The school day wrapped up at 3 pm, followed by a staff meeting that we trainees attended. Our HM, Shyju Sir, delivered an inspiring speech about the upcoming Sports Day and Arts Day. Saju Sir then shared detailed duty lists and responsibilities for the Sport Meet. We also discussed the new circular from the Higher Secondary department regarding changes in the question pattern. With the meeting concluded, we bid farewell to our colleagues and headed home, feeling refreshed and ready for the challenges ahead.
Day 29: Tuesday (09/09/2025)
Sports Meet Inauguration: A Day of Excitement and Duty
We teacher trainees gathered at school by 9 am, eager to participate in the Sports Meet inauguration. After signing the attendance register, we pitched in to help with the arrangements. The program kicked off at 9:45 am, with PTA members, panchayat members, HM, and Principal Dileep Sir in attendance. They all delivered inspiring words to the participants.
A talented student from 8th standard, who is also a sports enthusiast, took the sports day oath, setting the tone for the events. The highlight of the inauguration was the Olympics-style torch relay. PTA President lit the torch and handed it over to the first student, who then passed it on to others, culminating in the lighting of the grand torch at the top of the building.
The sports events that followed were a thrill to watch, with students from primary to higher secondary levels participating enthusiastically. The events included 100m and 500m races, throwing and jumping competitions, and prizes were distributed adjacently. As teacher trainees, we did our duty by overseeing the events and ensuring everything ran smoothly.
The day concluded with a walking event at 4 pm, after which the students left, and we signed out. It was a tiring but enjoyable day, filled with excitement and a sense of accomplishment.
Day 30: Wednesday (10/09/2025)
I reached school at 9:30 am with my fellow teacher trainees, eager to participate in the second day of the Sports Meet. After signing the register, we headed to our designated classrooms. As it was the second day of the sports event, I was assigned duties to ensure the smooth conduct of the programs.
The morning session began with throwing events at the Puthayam ground, which started at 10 am under the supervision of Saju Sir. We teacher trainees were on duty, actively helping to manage the events. The finals of the previously completed semi-finals were held first, followed by the remaining races.
After lunch, the rest of the events took place, concluding by 3 pm. What followed was a fun-filled teachers' 50m race, which brought out the competitive spirit in everyone. In the LP section, Shaija Teacher emerged as the winner, while Vishnu Sir from the UP section took the top spot in the male teachers' competition. We trainees also had our own competition, which was won by our B.Ed. trainee, Aswani.
The closing ceremony marked the end of the programs at 3:30 pm. Saju Sir delivered a vote of thanks, followed by Shyju Sir and Jayakumar Sir, who praised our efforts in making the event a success. As a token of appreciation, we were treated to vada and tea before dispersing.
As we signed out and left the school, I couldn't help but feel that it was a truly enjoyable day, filled with memorable moments and a sense of accomplishment.
Day 31: Thursday (11/09/2025)
We teacher trainees arrived at school by 9:30 am, signed the attendance register, and headed to the allotted staff room. My first period class was with 8B, where I distributed check exam papers and discussed the answer key and questions with the students.
During the second and third periods, Physical Education teacher Saju Sir requested my help in preparing a list of upcoming sports events and participants. I assisted him in making the necessary arrangements, which was a great learning experience.
In the afternoon, we served lunch to the students. Later, during the fifth period, I had a class with 9B, where I distributed exam papers and discussed the question and answer key. In the seventh period, I had a substitution class in 8A.
After the national anthem, the students left school, and we signed out before departing. It was a busy but fulfilling day, filled with various responsibilities and learning opportunities.
Day 32: Friday (12/09/2025)
We four teacher trainees reached the school by 9:30 am. We signed the attendance register and sat in the allotted staffroom.
In the first period, I had a class in 8B, where I taught the topic Cell Biology and the scientists who contributed to it. During this time, their class teacher gave me the exam papers to distribute to the students. In the second period, I again got substitution in the same class because teachers were busy with the parent meeting. Together with some students, I arranged the exam papers for each student and calculated the marks. In the third period, I got substitution in 9A, and in the fourth period, substitution in 5A. In the afternoon, we served lunch to the students. In the sixth period, I went for substitution in 6B. Meanwhile, parents continued to come for the parent meeting and related procedures were going on. During the 7th period, we conducted a quiz competition based on the Excise Department for the students. Abhijith of Class 10 and Anushma of Class 8 emerged as the winners and were selected for the district-level competition, which will be held at Anchal East School on Monday.
Later, the Physical Education sir asked us to help him with completing a portion of Physical Education. We discussed the portion together. The school dispersed at 4 pm. After the students left, we signed the attendance register and left the school.
CURRICULAR AND CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
During this week, I taught students of 8th standard using the prepared teaching manual from their respective chapter. For 8th standard students, I handled topic from the chapter Cell and cell clusters, which included the Cell biology and the scientists who contributed to it . Appropriate teaching aids like slides, videos etc were used. Reflective journal for the week was also completed.
EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
As part of extracurricular activities, school sports day was held for two days. Also we conducted quiz competition based on excise department for HS students. Sports meet was the highlight of this week.
OVERALL REFLECTION ON CLASS EXPERIENCE
The students of Class 8 were given a teaching manual-oriented, activity based classroom experience. one teaching manuals were completed effectively. The topic taught during this week was "Cell Biology and the scientists who contributed to it." from the chapter " Cell and Cell Clusters" of 8th class students. The students actively participated in discussions and classroom activities related to these topics. In addition to classroom teaching, follow-up work was given to reinforce the concepts taught.
