REFLECTION ON SCHOOL EXPERIENCE

Day 43: Monday (29/09/2025)

We, the teacher trainees, reached school by 9:30 a.m. and signed the attendance register. During the first and second periods, I had no classes. In the third period, the Physical Education teacher asked me to take the 8B students to the ground for PT. I organized some games for them and also practiced a few yoga postures.

In the 4th period, I got a substitution in my concerned class, 8B, and I taught the topic Vascular or Complex Tissues in Plants – Peculiarities and Functions. After that, we served lunch to the students. During the 7th period, I again got substitution in 8B and taught the topic Meristematic Tissues and Types of Meristematic Tissues – Peculiarities and Functions. In the 8th period, I got substitution in 7A. After the National Anthem, the school dispersed. We signed the attendance register and left the school.

Days 44, 45, and 46 (30th September to 2nd October)

There was no school due to Pooja holidays.

Day 47: Friday (03/10/2025)

We all reached school by 9:30 a.m., completed our discipline duty in the HS section, and signed the attendance register. During the first period, I had class 8B, where I taught the topic Structure of Animal Cell – Parts and Functions. In the second and third periods, Akshaya and I were on examination duty as many students were attending retests.

In the 4th period, I assisted Yamuna teacher in preparations for the upcoming Science Fest. I helped students in making their still model. The 9th standard students were preparing an innovative model on the Making of Sanitary Pads from Plantain Fiber , which I found very creative and impressive.

After the lunch break, we served lunch to the students. During the 6th period, I got substitution in my concerned class 8B and taught the topic Different Types of Animal Tissues – Peculiarities and Functions. During the7th period and 8th periods, I continued to assist teachers with various works related to the Science Fest. After the National Anthem at 4 p.m., the school dispersed, and we signed the attendance register before leaving.

Day 48: Saturday (04/10/2025)

Today was a working day following Thursday’s timetable, as there had been many holidays this week. In the first period, I went to class 8B and taught the topic Stem Cells and Their Significance, and also provided notes for the chapter. Retests were being conducted today as well, so we were assigned invigilation duties in the exam halls.

Many teachers were busy with Science Fest preparations, so we teacher trainees had continuous substitution classes. As it was our last day at the school before returning to college, we met the Headmaster, requested permission, and got our attendance registers signed and sealed.

By 3:00 p.m., the school dispersed. After the students left, we also left the school, marking the completion of another memorable phase of our teaching practice.

CURRICULAR AND CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

This week, I continued teaching the third chapter Cell and Cell Clusters. I taught different topics from this unit such as Vascular or Complex Tissues in Plants – Peculiarities and Functions, Meristematic Tissues and Types of Meristematic Tissues, Structure of Animal Cell – Parts and Functions, Different Types of Animal Tissues – Peculiarities and Functions, and Stem Cells and Their Significance.

All the classes were taken for my concerned class 8B. I used charts, cutouts, and ICT tools like videos and slides to make the classes more interesting. The students actively took part in the discussion and answered questions eagerly. They enjoyed identifying cell parts and understanding how tissues work in living organisms.

EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

During this week, many school activities were going on. On Friday, preparations for the Science Fest were in progress. I helped Yamuna teacher in arranging materials and guiding students in making still models. The 9th standard students were preparing an innovative model about making sanitary pads from plantain fibre. It was a very creative idea. I also had discipline duty in the high school section and invigilation duty during the retests. Along with that, I helped in serving lunch for the students and assisted teachers with different Science Fest arrangements.

OVERALL REFLECTION ON CLASSROOM EXPERIENCE

This week gave me good teaching experiences. I could teach several new topics related to plant and animal tissues and the structure of cells. Using ICT presentations and charts helped the students understand better. They were more active and interested when pictures and videos were shown. While teaching stem cells, students related the topic to healing and growth in humans, which made the class more meaningful. Helping students in Science Fest preparation also gave me a chance to guide them in creative scientific work.

Overall, it was a busy and productive week. I balanced teaching, substitution classes, exam duties, and science fest preparations. It was a happy and useful week with many learning experiences.
