TEACHING PRACTICE PHASE 2- WEEK 6

TEACHING PRACTICE PHASE 2- WEEK 6 (10/11/2025,Monday - 14/11/2025,Friday)

Day 25 – Monday, 10-11-2025

We teacher trainees reached the school by 9:30 a.m. The school was bustling with the activities of the Sub-District Youth Festival. Many of the high school teachers were on leave due to the 10th standard tour, so we handled several substitutions in both upper primary and high school sections.

During the second period, I had a substitution in my concerned class, 9B, where I taught the topic “Steps in Haemodialysis.” At 11:00 a.m., I got an opportunity to conduct an awareness class for adolescent girls on Menstrual Hygiene and Nutrition during Menstruation as part of my project work. Thirty girls from the 9th standard attended the session. The class was very engaging — I used a PowerPoint presentation and interactive activities to make it interesting. After the session, I distributed questionnaires to assess their awareness.

During lunch break, we served lunch to the students. In the afternoon, there was a rehearsal session for various youth festival programs led by Usha Teacher, the Headmistress, and other staff members. After the national anthem, the school dispersed. We signed the attendance register and left the school.

Day 26 – Tuesday, 11-11-2025

We reached the school by 9:30 a.m., signed the attendance register, and sat in the allotted staffroom. During the second period, I taught my concerned class 9B the topic “Kidney Transplantation – Procedure and Its Importance.”

Later, I supervised the practice session of 3rd standard students for their group song, patriotic song, and dance performances for the upcoming competitions. During lunch, we served food to the students. After the national anthem, the school dispersed, and we signed the attendance register before leaving.

Day 27 – Wednesday, 12-11-2025

We arrived at the school by 9:30 a.m., signed the attendance register, and took our places in the staffroom. Many teachers were on Kalolsavam duty, so we were assigned several substitutions throughout the day.

During the first and second periods, I handled substitutions in classes 10A and 10B. In the third period, I took my concerned class 8B and taught the topic “Limitations of Traditional Classification.” Then, during the fourth period, I had a substitution in 7B.

During lunch break, we served food to the students. In the fifth and sixth periods, I supervised practice sessions and helped students create props for their drama performances. I also assisted with mehndi preparations for participants. The school dispersed at 4:00 p.m., after which we signed the register and left.

Day 28 – Thursday, 13-11-2025

On the 28th day of our teaching practice, we reached the school by 9:30 a.m. and signed the attendance register. During the first period, I taught 8B the topic “Modern Classification Method.” In the second period, I got a substitution in 9A.

During lunch break, we served food to the students. In the fifth period, I took a substitution in 9B and taught “Excretory Products and Excretory Mechanisms in Different Organisms.” In the sixth period, I had a substitution in 5B.

After the final bell at 4:00 p.m., we signed the register and left the school along with other staff members.

Day 29 – Friday, 14-11-2025

On the 29th day of our second phase teaching practice, we reached the school by 9:30 a.m. and signed the attendance register. During the first period, I took my concerned class 8B and taught the topic “Six-Kingdom Classification.” In the third period, I again handled 8B and taught “Classification System in Humans.”

During the fourth and fifth periods, I had substitutions in 3B, which were engaging and enjoyable. At lunch, we served food to the students. During the lunch break, a funny moment occurred when a group of monkeys appeared near the school’s washing area. We were quite amused to see so many of them together, but the students seemed completely casual about it. They mentioned that monkey visits were a common sight, even near their houses, and they were quite familiar with such incidents. After the national anthem, the school dispersed, and we signed the attendance register before leaving.

CURRICULAR AND CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

During this week, students of classes 8B and 9B were taught the topics “Steps in Haemodialysis,” “Kidney Transplantation – Procedure and Its Importance,” “Limitations of Traditional Classification,” “Modern Classification Method,” “Excretory Products and Excretory Mechanisms in Different Organisms,” “Six-Kingdom Classification,” and “Classification System in Humans.”

A special awareness class on Menstrual Hygiene and Nutrition during Menstruation was conducted for 9th standard girls as part of the project work. The class was interactive and ICT-enabled with PPT presentation and activities. Questionnaires were distributed to assess their awareness level.

Co-curricular engagements included assisting teachers in youth festival practice sessions, supervising song and dance rehearsals, and helping students prepare stage properties and mehndi designs for the events.

EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

The school was actively engaged in Sub-District Youth Festival preparations this week. Teacher trainees helped in organizing and supervising various practice sessions, coordinating program rehearsals, and assisting students in their performance preparations. Lunch duty was performed daily, ensuring smooth conduct of the mid-day meal program.

OVERALL REFLECTION ON CLASS EXPERIENCE

This week provided a rich and dynamic teaching experience with a balance of academic and festival-related activities. Through the lessons taught, students gained a clear understanding of various topics related to excretion, classification, and modern biological systems. ICT tools like PowerPoint presentations, videos, and charts enhanced student engagement and understanding.

The awareness class on menstrual hygiene was particularly meaningful, fostering open discussion, confidence, and awareness among adolescent girls. Participating in youth festival preparations helped build teamwork, adaptability, and organizational skills.

Overall, the week was productive, engaging, and enriching — blending academic instruction with social learning, creativity, and active participation in school activities.
